About Us

We are a newly forming community of disciples following the teachings of Jesus in Columbia, MO.

Vision

For the Renewal of Columbia.

Through the Healing power of the Gospel.

To the glory of Christ the King.

Mission

Our mission is to become a worshipping, witnessing, and praying church that is seeking to honor God by making disciples, serving our neighbors, and planting churches.

Values

Our church adheres to the historic, orthodox Christian faith as articulated in the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds, and our doctrinal standards are the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Westminster Larger (part 1, part 2) and Shorter Catechism.

Worship: The Means of Grace

We believe that God has provided the Church with both a message and a means for people who are exploring Christianity and for those who are convinced of Christianity. Just as God has ordained that a plant will grow by water and sunlight, so Christians grow through simple ways. These means are called ordinary, not because they are without power or mystery, but because they are ordinarily used by God to transform His people. To help experience love and flourishing in a relationship with him. The means of grace are God's Word (1 Peter 1:23-25; 2 Timothy 3:16-17), the sacraments of Baptism (Colossians 2:11-12) & the Lord’s supper (I Corinthians 11:23-34), and Prayer (Matthew 6:5-13). For this reason, we will seek to be a Church that is Scripture-saturated, sacrament-serving serving and prayer-soaked. We are committed to expositional preaching from the Bible (that means verse-by-verse through a book).

Witness: Evangelism & Discipleship

One of the last instructions Jesus left his disciples with is found in Matthew 28. Jesus tells them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” We believe the Church is God's means for accomplishing the task of making disciples. Not a program, but a people who are engaged in the lives of others, all who are at varying stages of understanding and maturity. (Colossians 1:28). We’ve encountered God’s love and we want others to experience that same love. So we seek to be a witness in the city of Columbia.

Care: Mercy & Community

Central to our mission as a church is the cultivation of a diverse and committed family of believers who care for one another deeply - a community that reflects the neighborhood that we’re located in and is committed to living out the “one another’s” of scripture together. As such, we are working to create a broad network of love that holds people of different perspectives together by emphasizing the main things as it relates to faith and the shared things as it relates to place.

Catechesis: Formation & Culture

The Church exists for the life of the world. Jesus tells us that he didn’t come to be served, but to serve. Jesus has called us to follow him in service towards others. The first questions we ask then are, “How can we be formed and how can we serve?” We exist for the life of Columbia, and when it flourishes, we flourish. So, we encourage one another to serve the city in our various spheres of work, interests, and influence. The same is true for you, whether you are a plumber, a teacher, a stay-at-home mom, or an artist.
